How long does it need to stay on after detecting motion? How discreet do you want the setup to be? How complicated are you happy to go? You could do it with a standard PIR with built in timer and standard socket which would be simplest, no WiFi needed, or buy into one of the smart ecosystems, which takes a bit of setup but would be more expensive, or do a DIY job that doesn't involve one of the main smart brands which would be the most complicated but cheaper than say Hue.

Basic smart plug and separate motion sensor. You can set up a simple IFTTT applet ..when motion is detected to turn on plug. Plug can be set to turn off after a specific time once turned on

Could you recommend a motion sensor that works with IFTTT?

I've never used IFTTT before, hoping it's relatively straight forward
