    Hi lads,

Anyone moving along some DI2 bits in favour of wireless or other. I had picked up a set of 6870 shifters on here donkeys ago and forgot all about them so figured no better time than now to try piece a set together.

The project will be to somewhat electrify and fancy an old steel frame. The cables will be run semi internally I'm not adverse to drilling into my frame it'll never be sold and I've good health insurance last I checked :D

I have shifters/rear derailleur and a couple of short cables. My experience on DI2 is shorter than this post so in short. I believe these aren't very interchangeable so I'm guessing I'll need to stay in the Ultegra vein. I'm not adverse to buying an entire groupset if the price was right though.

Basically what do I need and what do you have? :D

The devil on my shoulder is also on the look out for a nice carbon frame if anyone has a nice one for sale at a bargain price but that'll be for lock down 6.0 so I'm in no rush for that. Alanbt I'm looking in your direction you must be upgrading something soon ;)

With the exception of the original duraace 7970 I think just about everything else is compatible. You can mix 10 and 11 speed and duraace and ultegra although you may have to use older firmware. As well as front mech and wires i think all you'll need is battery, 2 junction boxes and charger. You can pick these up on Ebay.

What size frame are you looking for? Thanks to your post on the bargain alerts thread I picked up two very nice Genesis frames for 500 quid each, one for me and one for the missus! I took all the components from this bike to build up mine. I was able to convert my old 10 speed 6770 Di2 to 11 speed by buying a 6870 rear mech and rolling back to old firmware. There's a few pictures of the new bike on my strava here. As a result the Principia frameset is up for grabs if you're interested? I had to drill a few holes in it for the wiring but if not using Di2 I have rubber bungs for them!

Cheers Paul the new bikes look class. I'm going to hold off on the frame for the minute as I put the cart before the horse too often and end up with several projects on the go :D

I'm watching a few items on ebay but the front derailleurs seem to be few and far between. I saw one that's 6770 for reasonable money I'm not sure if that would be compatible. I'd imagine it is I mean it's only moving between the front chainrings.

I watched a Shane Miller clip and they look relatively straight forward. It looks as though I need the following. I found junction box A I got with the shifters so that's one saving.

    The rest I need
    • Junction B - 4 port inside BB
      Cables
    • RD - 750mm
    • FD - 300mm
    • Battery - 350mm
    • junction A/B - 1200mm
    • Battery - Internal or external
    • Charger/interface (Does this require software?)

    I have the following parts:

    2 x 1400mm Di2 cables (brand new never used)
    Cable tool (new and unused)
Junction box holder for under stem. (new and unused)

    €25 posted for the lot.

Which model rear mech have you got? That'll decide whether you're going 10 speed or 11 speed as these can't be changed. You then must use a front mech from a same speed groupset if you want to use up-to-date firmware. If you're prepared to just use older firmware you can get away with using any front mech! Rolling back firmware is a bit messy so if you have the choice it's probably easier just to follow the rules!

There's a lot of information on this here.

I have the necessary older firmware if you need it.

Rear mech is 6870 so I'll try keep them in that group I guess.

By standard cage do you mean the shorter one, SS, or the longer one, GS?

SM- EW90 5 port junction A box with under stem attachments and blanking plugs if you don't use 2 of them for satellite shifters etc. This one is 110e ProBikeKit. The 3 port one is 98e on CRC. So 55e posted?

Is this still available? I'd like to take it if it is? Thanks, Paul

I'm also looking for both junction boxes (A and B?), a battery and a variety of wires if anyone has anything available!

It is, I never even put up the ad - I'm in and around Dublin 8. PM me to meet.

Edit - it is the "short" one. Well, I think its the standard one, but its not the long one if you know what I mean, I changed it to the long one. So if its either long or short, then its short.

Yep I still have it. I've done a quick check around ,looks like 109e + postage from bikediscount.de is cheapest I can find.
60e with stem clip/ holder and attachment rubber and postage all in?
