Seiko Orange Monster repair required

    Hi All,

Long time lurker but I think my first post in this forum.

I bought an Orange Monster online a few years ago, and in the meantime I think it's had a fall or a knock that's damaged the movement.
If I adjust the time now, only the hour hand moves, and it sounds like there's something loose internally.

I've always liked watches, and this was a present to myself, because I like Seiko and Timex as tool watches.

So, two part question for the members.

Is there someone in Ireland I could send my watch to for repair?

Would I be as well to buy a new movement and ask if someone on this forum could fit it to my watch? (Something like this?)

Thanks for your time folks, looking forward to your advice.

Getting a new movement would probably be cheaper than servicing the movement and getting replacement parts - it depends on whether you have any attachment to that particular movement in the watch itself (financial logic and what the heart wants can often be different - especially for watches!)

Great taste in getting a Orange Monster and welcome to the forum!

I think you're based out in Waterford? In which case Dublin recommendations for watchmakers might not be that convenient - I hear watchfix.ie mentioned a lot - you could check what prices he would offer for movement replacement and resealing.

Alternative would be a watch repairer I've used based out in Galway - Alan Tully - he's been very professional in my dealings with him.

    Hi,
I did the same to my orange monster, knocked it hard against a truck and the dial rotated and timing went way off.
I sent to a guy in the uk who does modding or upgrades.
He replaced the 7s26 movement with 4r36 , Sapphire ar coated crystal and a signed crown, sealed and tested. Cost about 200 euros. Its not what the purists would do, but it's not a 60s rolex, it's a seiko from 2002. He returned all the old parts.

Here's an eBay link to his listing, brexit aside.

    Lads,

Thanks a million for your replies!

I've been watching Youtube videos, and I think I would like to have a go at swapping the movement and crystal myself.

I'll start getting some tools together and hopefully I can get this done for my Birthday the end of February.

I'm hoping it goes well, sure I'll learn something anyway ;-)

    Cheers lads
