I'm looking to get a new laptop, I currently have an XPS and it's still working fine but looking to upgrade.

I'm just wondering if a different model with seemingly better specs is going to perform better, specs below of the two I am looking at on the Dell outlet. I have no specific requirements like video editing, etc. just want a good spec laptop that will do me for the next 10 years or so, like my last XPS.

Other than the better screen and battery the XPS looks to be a lower spec.

    The XPS is 4K.
The G5 is FullHD, but aimed at gaming, with 144Hz refresh and the 2070 GPU. You will want to run this one plugged, probably.

BTW, if you want your next laptop to last 10 years, wait for the new MacBook Pro.

Thanks, will stick to a windows laptop.

Just looking again I should really be comparing the XPS against a new Inspiron 15 7000

There are plenty comparison videos on youtube.
I have a 9500 myself and very happy with it.

Yeah that's a rabbit hole I've gone down plenty of times, watching videos on end eventually confusing myself even more :D

A new XPS is out of my budget so it's only really if there is one in the outlet but for the same or less money the Inspiron 15 7000 seems to have better specs.
