Recently upgraded to 1gb broadband (already had VM with the other white router, cant remember what the model is) and am having issues with some devices.

Its a very old house with thick (2 feet or so) stone external walls. The router is up in the corner of the sitting room ( front of the house, about a foot from the front wall) and have an imou bullit 2c camera on the soffit more or less above the router outside, so about 10-12 feet away and through the wall.

The camera has stopped being able to connect to the router the last few days. After a few goes when we got the new router a couple of weeks ago it eventually connected, then suddenly on Friday it started saying the camera was offline. The missus couldnt get the nieces tablet to connect to it for days then managed to get it to connect on friday , she did move it to get the code off it , but , despite a few drops here and there with various devices (it seems flakey in general) we've had it working with everything else since.

I took the camera down, brought it in and literally had to sit in on the shelf beside the router to get it to connect properly. If I do it from its position outside it always shows one bar of signal strength when choosing the network.

TLDR: Does anyone else find the wifi generally poor with this router?

There's been a lot of discussions in the Virgin 1Gb now available. thread. The equipment supplied by VM isn't of particularly high quality and people have problems with Wifi coverage, random reboots and so on. if you want to make the most of your new connection you should consider purchasing a new more powerful router or Mesh a system if expanded coverage is needed. (There are recommendations in the thread above)

My 2c, buy a new router, put the VM Hub in modem mode and don't look back.

    Goodluck!
