Finding out the age of an Exide battery

Just wondering does anyone out there know how to decode the age code on Exide batteries.
Fitted a new battery to a family members car and now the car won't start.
Looking to rule out the battery being very old, as it looked like it had been sitting in a warehouse for a while when I first saw it.

The code on the battery is KG8D11.

A battery can sit unused for a long time, like years, and still kinda work. They do deteriorate of course so don't buy new batteries older than a year.

Anyway you need to first check your install then check battery voltage on & off load to determine if it is faulty. Us a multimeter set to dc voltage and set range above 12v.
