The normalisation of Israel and Arab relations

In recent years especially during the Trump administration which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and saw the lowest point of pan Arabism (Especially the sidelining of the Palestinian cause) and Islamic fundamentalism (Crushed with the defeat of ISIS) relations between the Arab world and Israel has improved.

Israel due to its size and surrounded by larger more populous Arab neighbours depends on its nuclear arsenal its modern airforce navy and of course mandatory military service as deterrence against a repeat of the 1967 and 1973 wars. Even so a major war by multiple enemies could finish it.

Fatah and Hamas supplied by sympathetic Arab neighbours could not destroy Israel but could by using the Gaza strip and West Bank as launch sites for guerrilla attacks or rocket bombardment make life unbearable for young Israelis who would eventually leave out of frustration for an easier life in America or Europe. Now that Palestinian life line has been cut off.

Arab nations do not enjoy the energy monopoly they once did - the Americans during the Trump administration became energy self sufficient and the No 1 exporter of energy in the world while Shia Iran who seek nuclear weapons threaten the strait of Hormuz and arm and support Shia minority guerrilla movements across the region has become a threat to both Arab Sunni regimes. The Saudis especially seek to diversify their economy considering attracting high tech manufacturing and opening up rail routes across the Arab peninsula linking Haifa and the Gulf states via Jordan and Saudi thereby improving transport links with the Mediterranean. A proposed Sinai Saudi bridge would link to a new proposed Saudi megacity of Neom by mid 21st century linking Egypt intimately with Saudi Arabia.

Of course the majority of Arab people overwhelmingly oppose normalization of relations or even recognition of Israel but it is hoped that as Arab nations prosper that with more to lose and everything to gain these outdated attitudes will change guided by Arab bureacrats and their rulers supported by the US and Israel who supply them with weapons technology and military training.

It looks likely that the United States alliance with Israel will remain strong under the Biden administration and there will be no change to the Trump policies which sought to establish peaceful relationships

Is this a press release or something? What did you actually want to discuss here? Apart from Trump = Good

The normalisation of Israel v Arab relations.

And yes the Trump administration's initiative involving Jared Kushner facilitated these improving relations.

Biden is doubtlessly going to build on them.

Was going to ask was it a press release myself.

Neither Trump nor BiBi showed any empathy or tact in moving to Jerusalem. There was no need beyond BiBi and Trump playing to the Israeli right/BiBi's base.

Kushner is no peace broker. He enabled the sidelining of the Palestinian people. His father was pardoned by Trump. We could well see BiBi, Trump and Kushner in more legal troubles in the coming months.

Any Arab dealing with the Israelis is doing it for money and convenience. As soon as it become inconvenient it will stop.

I hope Biden fights for peace and the fair treatment of Palestinians. Israel needs to be held to account.

Israel is a nation of mostly European-derived planters in an Arab land facilitated by British imperialism.

A modern military against stones and slingshots, fair battle that.

At most 50% of the current population are of European descent. While the Jewish population
has virtually disappeared from Arab majority countries.

    🙈🙉🙊
