Vw Caddy 2010 no alarm when doors opened, or alarm for lights left on

Hi all, any help appreciated. I recently bought a VW caddy 1.9tdi 2010. Small things bugging me is that there is no alarm on the lights so I’m leaving lights on occasionally when jumping out to run in some place quickly. Maybe it’s linked but the van doesn’t seem to recognise any doors being opened either , eg no lights on dash etc . I’m just wondering Is there anything I can check myself, any help would be appreciated

I thought once you took the key out of the ignition the lights automatically switched off in the Caddy ?

Edit l presume you mean the headlights ?

Yes so the headlights will go off but the parks stay on. And no alarm comes on to tell you the lights are left on . Also if I open any door it doesn’t put up a light on dash

One or more of your door locks are faulty or the micro switch contained within them is faulty. It’s responsible for giving feedback to the control module on the open/closed status of the door. Probably will need to scan with VCDS or similar diagnostic tool to confirm.
Check also the light switch in the overhead console is set for door operation. If you have puddle lights on the doors, they should light up also when the door opens.
But I think your looking at a drivers door lock replacement at least. In the meantime be careful not to leave keys inside or unlock and put the keys in ignition and then get out and close the door. Because it won’t recognise door open signal, it will lock all the doors again after 45 seconds or so.
