I’d say between 8% to 10% off list with no trade in. Also price all the dealers.

I would be amazed if that much was possible especially if it’s the new model coupe.

I think 8 to 10% is ambitious on a BMW. Depends on how badly they need to sell to so no harm in trying.

There'd be big discounts for the out going model old stock. Dont know if there'd be much on the new model thats just out

Looking at the new coupe (G22) and a steer on a reasonable discount. Don’t want to go in looking for something that is isn’t realistic and waste people’s time. I was hoping for 5%.

If youre buying a stock car and have no trade in, I would think 5% would be very good. If it’s a car that needs ordering then I would say less is likely.

Thanks. Need to revise my expectations so! Doing a custom order and will need to cut down on the options list by the looks of it :-)

Price it in many dealers and see how far you can push them. I can't see you getting the equivalent of 2 optional packs for free which would be the equivalent of a 10% discount.
It's also about the discount you'll get on a demo after 5 to 6 months, just can't see it.
5% is probably doing well. There couldn't be 5 or 6k wiggle room in it unless your sale is needed to trigger a rebate for targets met.
Interested to hear how you get on though.

You need to go to multiple dealerships, their job is to convince you that they are giving you the best deal possible when they aren't, buying straight 10% is the least possible but only possible if you are willing to walk away and look at other options as a good salesman will read you.

If you go in to a BMW dealer looking for 10% discount off a brand new 4 Series then you will be just seen as a time waster and will be walking away.

If new, spec the motor and get the price from one dealer. Whore yourself with the rest playing each other off. Add optional extras and see if they will match/beat the price. Servicing plans/optional extras- even an oem roof rack/free fuel etc- anything better than the last deal offered is a bonus. You will never get one over on the dealers as they will ALWAYS be quids in but you hold some power over negotiations as a customer going between various marque dealerships in an uncertain pandemic. Never ever fall in love with the car they show you! And never be worried about walking away- plenty of cars=deals out there and the dealer if desperate has you on speed dial. Good luck with negotiations

I’d say 2.5-3k discount is about as much as you could hope for. Which would be the equivalent of say one option pack and met paint. Maybe get the service pack thrown in.

It’s a brand new model. Likely to be a factory order unless you’re not fussed on spec and happy to take one of the few available in stock. Discounts won’t be big. I’d imagine the discount would be more significant on the old model (if there’s any left) but the old model will obviously suffer greater depreciation.

Ordered last week with a trade in. Comparing a realistic value of my car to the cost to change, I got about 4K off the 54k list price.

Be aware if you are ordering you’ll likely be waiting until April/may and the VAT might go up (currently supposed to go up by end of Feb)

As one poster already said try multiple dealers to get the best deal, you might be surprised at what you can get from them but more importantly choose a dealer that is friendly and has a good customer service, when my mother bought her new car the dealer guy was a pig to deal with and the after sales were also a disaster but it was the only place that had the car she wanted at the time.

With an absolute scrap heap of a trade in worth about €50 and bargaining got 2k off list and 6 months tax (the guy made us feel like he was personally paying for the tax) but got it!

For what its worth I was looking at brand new small cars for my mother before xmas, seat ibiza, vw polo, kia something or other and almost without fail, there was a 2k reduction in price immediately for straight sale which was in the region of 10%

Dont know if any of them were new models in demand or anything like that but thats what was being thrown at me before I even tried to negotiate

CarWow in the UK do all the work for you. You specify the car and spec, and they will go to all the dealers to get the best price. Surprised this is not in place in Ireland yet.

Like many things it's a closed shop here, otherwise they or someone like them would already be here.

Car market here is too small for the likes of carwow I’d say. Dealers don’t sell in enough volume to get manufacturer’s discounts that they can pass on to the same extent as the U.K.
