Another own goal for the government who once swore they would never tax private homes. In the middle of an employment crisis of unprecedented levels they take the Tax Relief at Source FROM mortgage holders - another tax burden snuck through for those struggling to pay their way.

This has been signalled for years.
TRS for new mortgages ended in 2012 with HTB coming after this.

    From Revenue:
TRS was a tax relief on mortgage interest paid on qualifying mortgage loans taken out between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2012. TRS was only available up to 31 December 2020.

    Snuck through?
This was implemented 8 years ago.

    It even got an extension:
'Mortgage interest relief, which was due to cease at the end of 2017, was extended to the end of 2020'
