I've a 2016 Q7 sitting in the drive as I WFH, and will be permanently 90% off the time in the future. Think I've done 5-6kms since March.
Giving serious thought to trading down to a Golf or something similar.
    Anyone in the same boat?

I did in April. I’d just bought a car in February but without earning any mileage it was costing me far too much sitting on my driveway. I bought a smaller car in July but have hardly driven it too.

Had similar situation before covid. I had 530d, girlfriend bought an a6 because she loves them and would only drive automatic (despite me saying get a petrol a3) and she hardly ever drove it, only to her mams house and to the shops.

I used to switch between them to save the audi only doing short 2km drives. Got a good offer on the 530d so sold that, I took the audi and she got a golf auto 1.4tsi which she now, of course, hardly ever drives.

The golf is nice though. I wouldn't be too worried about trading down if it frees up a few quid.

By the way, I pulled the trigger on this after serval offers on my Q7 vs a new Golf.
Key factors for me were; reduced mileage, depreciation over 3 years, reduced service costs and general running costs per 1,000 kms.
Plus the firstborn is learning to drive, so we have 2 lessons under our belts already.
Decent spec/tech inside the new Golf,

Nice. Brand new or new to you?

Almost got a 2020 Mk8 and then got a call about one that was about to be pre reg'd, so managed to negotiate a decent trade on that.
