Have an elderly relative whose rcd trips every 3/4 months at random, im fairly sure it's the fridge but looking for a steer on what to do as I don't want to direct to buy a new fridge if not necessary, house is about ten years old as is fridge.

Would a Pat test be any use or plug the fridge into an rcd socket and wait a few months and see if it goes and not the rest of the house?

    Any help appreciated

An insulation resistance test of the socket circuits would be the first step.

Run the fridge off its own rcbo and dedicated circuit, if it trips, it's the fridge. Would need an electrician for this, might not be worth it

    Depends on the fridge

True but it's not a logical solution to spend money fitting a dedicated circuit and Rcbo for a faulty appliance

Had it before, lady of the house refused to believe the problem was her fancy American fridge, put in an rcbo, socket beside the board, ran extension lead to fridge. Problem was fridge.
Like I said, probably not worth doing, depends on the fridge.
