Pipes froze last night so no water. Neighbours are ok so seems like it must be the pipe between stopcock and house? Pipes are pretty close to the surface-1980s build.
Can we turn on gas central heating for a few hours today? Should there be enough reserve? Just in case the pipes in the house itself are frozen ( unlikely i know but the house is pretty cold)

Also are there companies that will lay pipes deeper? I know it will be costly but dont think can cope with the worry of this every winter

yes you should be fine to use the heating if its the incoming water has frozen. The temp is higher today so hopefully will right itself in the next few hours...

A few hours.. you've given us hope, was thinking it'd be tomorrow at least. If pipes have frozem internally are we better off putting heating on really low or does it matter.. had burst pipes in previous house years ago so in horrors of it happening again

Can anyone recommend a cork city company who would dig and insulate the pipes coming into the house?

Is the stopcock itself well insulated? This is the place where the water is most likely to freeze.

Try putting a fan heater on close to where the pipe enters the house

The stopcock is only half inch below ground level. We cut the end off a stopcock cosy (had brought this ten years ago and only tried to put in a few days ago) and put it around it earlier in week as insulation. My partner checked today and said that it doesnt seem frozen. Coincidence that we're the only house on estate to not have water today though 🀔 Ill get him to check again
