    Hi,

I want to post a parcel (weighing 2.2kg) within ireland.

It is a lever arch folder with documents included (nom confidential stuff). I wrapped the item in bubble wrap and then put it into a large polythene envelope (waterproof).

Will this be ok, or will An post refuse to send this if it is not in a cardboard box?

    Thanks

You should be ok. No mention of needing a box on the An Post site:

If in doubt ask in the post office

If it fits inside the envelope and doesn't look likely to burst out in handling, it'll be fine. Its only when people try to pass off huge envelopes as normal postal/packet rates rather than parcel that it's an issue.

OP - It's well explained here: https://www.anpost.com/Post-Parcels and there's no requirement for a box. What you should be asking yourself is are you happy that your non confidential file will arrive intact at its destination in your chosen packaging.
