Inheritance While on Social Welfare

I am in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance with my wife and four kids listed as dependents. The mother and father of my wife (she's an Irish National) died last year and they left the house to their four children. The house is appraised at around €350,000.

I'm curious as to the affect this will have on our weekly payment as well as our HAP.

What do the four children plan to do with the house?

The only way it won't affect your benefits is if you are living in the property.

They are gonna sell the house and split up the funds after the fair-deal is taken out.

It will depend on how much goes on the fair deal, but if she received a quarter of the €350K, you would be looking at means of €220 per week.
Your payment would be reduced by that amount. Not sure how it would affect HAP

You are on Jobseekers so you may be working by the time the kids get the house? Why do you assume you will still be unemployed?

It's not the OP's kids who are getting a house; it's the OP's wife and her three siblings. And they've already got the house; their parents have died and left it to them. Presumably the sale of the house, the settling of the parent's Fair Deal and other liabilities, and the distribution of the net proceeds will follow in fairly short order.
