    They gave me a driver number does anyone know can I use this number to drive while waiting for my Irish licence

    Yes.

    Your driver number is one of the main identifiers on your licence. You can also give that to your insurance company for their records if asked.

    Yeah you will be fine to drive. A Garda might ask you to produce it at a station if you are stopped without it though.
