Notice period and annual leave query

    Hello all,

    This has probably been asked before but I guess my situation is slightly different to other cases I have read. I am intending to hand in my notice to my employer this week. I have accrued two weeks of annual leave (mainly carried over from last year). I am now wondering how i raise the issue of outstanding leave with my employer? I would prefer to work these two weeks rather than take them out of my notice period (which is one month). Are employers legally obliged to pay for accrued annual leave in lieu of notice? Also, can they force me to take the two weeks annual leave which would mean that I am not working my full notice?

    My contract doesn't really go into detail more than stating one month of notice is required. My ideal scenario would be to work the month and be paid additional in lieu of annual leave.

    My contract specifically says I can't take any AL during notice and any outstanding AL days will be paid. I've seen people on holidays during notice though so it's negotiable. You need to check with your employer.
