    Hey Folks,

I have a 2008 Honda Fit Automatic 1.4 petrol which was imported from Japan. While there are plenty of parts for the Honda Jazz they don't fit the Honda Fit with regards brake callipers.

Can anyone advise on how I could get replacement front callipers? I've tried a few garages but they can't get them either.

    I'd appreciate any help.

Your reg gives Type Number: 120218

    That's Jazz II
For NISSIN brake system front WITH 51mm PISTON

Front Left is Honda 45019-SAA-E50 =ECP13360114J
Front Right is Honda 45018-SAA-E50 =ECP13360115J

Euro Car Parts have in stock.

There is a different caliper that has a 54mm piston but I think your 1.4 has the 51mm

    That's not VIN!

    VIN is GE61066601

Japanese cars only have 12 numbers in the VIN apparently. It causes alot of confusion.

Ok, by using your frame number it gives 51mm piston. Above numbers should be good.

Can't understand supply issue you're having

They are available in Japan from Honda (Genuine)
Delivery is around 8-12 weeks at the minute though.

Those numbers arent correct. They are off a European Jazz and are a different part altogether.

    45018-saa-000
    45019-saa-000 are the correct numbers.

    Thanks for this.

Surprisingly hard to be 100% sure I'm looking at the right parts.

I'll order those part numbers via honda.

Id say thats the issue. The part numbers Ive given are from Hondas EPC so are 100% correct.

Bear in mind thats what they came from the factory with. I have seen Jap imports with calipers being changed to Euro ones due to the issues with availability but theyre usually accords / civic etc.

Yes, I made a faulty assumption using the diameter of the piston.

    45019-SAA-000 LHF Caliper
    45022-SAA-000 Brake Pad Set =BluePrint ADH24213 different
    45216-S5A-003 Caliper Piston (51mm) =Jakoparts J3290508
    45251-SAA-901 Front Disk =BluePrint ADH243119 different
    51216-TF0-J00 LH Knuckle

    45018-SAA-000 RHF Caliper
    51211-TF0-J00 RH Knuckle

So disks, pads & caliper are different.
BUT, is the spacing of the steering knuckle bolt holes (for caliper carrier) the same?
If so, I'd swap to EU spec and avoid the mental JAP prices.

Failing that, it's a simple floating single piston caliper. There must be a way to get a seal kit and refurbish?

It sounds like I should be hiring you guys to sort these out for me mate.

I haven't a clue but the mechanic did do a job 18 months ago on the callipers and cleaned them up etc. and he is gonna try and do the same tomorrow. I'll let you know how he gets on but I'm probably gonna have to replace them if they are beyond repair work.

Let him do that again. Even if you have to do that once a year then it's cheaper.
Secondhand calipers are going for over €150 each on eBay from Japan.

I shudder to think what new from Honda would be. And people say stuff is expensive for BMW!

Honda told me today it would be about 700 for two.

Car is worth about 600 quid. Usual craic.

    Exactly.

Lesson 1: Don't buy a JAP import (unless it's a rare type that will appreciate in value)

Lesson 2: Be nice to your mechanic that is doing the s**tty job of cleaning pistons, seals etc. from caliper.

    280.00 each + vat.

I have a jap import Insight - Nothing wrong with Jap imports if you look in the right place for parts and service.

Id suspect these 2 calipers could be probably gotten on ebay for less than 150 euros each.

Personally Id try to rebuild with new seals
    01463-SAA-000 - 78.00 euros each caliper. You`ll need 2 kits.

Sorry, but I must differ on that.
I didn't mean that there was anything 'wrong' with them.
They're a wrong purchase choice if you want 'cheapish' running costs on older vehicles.

Even the seal kit for callipers is MENTAL @€;78+

Each to their own, but personally I could never recommend a run of the mill JAP import.

Anyway, hopefully the OP gets sorted.

Theres plenty of people that would disagree and Jap imports are really quite common over here. Id agree that when something isn't available it can become a nightmare to source parts.

The difference for me is I work for Honda so Im never really far from any support or parts supply that I need. If I was in the OPs position Id go with what you said earlier in the tread ie - change everything to Euro Jazz parts.

But that would be because I carry out most of my own work on my own cars and Id save a fair bit on labour.
