    Hi,

As the title says, I started working in Dec 2020 but due to 2 back weeks I am getting paid half the month in 2021.
As I was studying last year I didn't use any of my tax credits, so it would be in my benefit to have got paid in 2020 for the work.
Is there any was around this, or is it a simple case of you get taxed when you get paid?

    I'm an accountant

Due to PAYE moderation your credits used will be the month or week you are paid in so 2021 is the answer

As a PAYE worker there is no way to retrospectively use old allowances regardless of when the money was earned so 2021

Sorry to break the bad news,
