For all of the D.I.Y. home mechanics, I was wondering where you get rid of your old parts? I've just replaced the front suspension and would like to dispose of the dampers responsibly. Do breakers accept parts as well as entire cars? I've also got used coolant, brake fluid and empty oil/coolant/brake fluid containers that are starting to build up!

    Cheers!

Fair play for trying to do the right thing :)
Start by ringing your local recycling centre about the metal parts.
    They will guide you.
Same about the fluids. Some will take them, some won't.

Cheers - I phoned the county council and they given me a number for a recycling centre in Wexford which they believe might take this sort of stuff. Once they pick up the phone I'll know the answer!

My local recycling place in Enniscorthy takes engine oil and I know they take metal too. Here's a link to their web page with a list of what they take and opening hours.

Cheers for that. My local recycling place actually takes oil and filters too, but not the empty bottles or other fluids!

I would have thought that county councils would make it easier for people to dispose of stuff like this, so that it doesn't just end up in general waste.

Bring centre in Grangegorman takes oils for free, not sure where you're living.
