Brexit and VAT on goods (collectibles) from private sellers

I was looking at picking up a collectors edition of a game via ebay on New Years Eve and pulled the plug because it wasn't clear to me what I'd ultimately be liable for. Checking the customs via https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/taric_consultation.jsp?Lang=en# suggests there would be no customs, however VAT is a little more unclear. As the item would have cost ~€330 including shipping, it's above the €150 threshold that has been mentioned around VAT/Duties, VAT would have added at least another €75.

Typically items being sold from the UK into Ireland should have no VAT applied, and then pay VAT in Ireland. So what happens with second hand goods sold via private sellers on ebay? Some collectibles can end up selling for more than the original price if they are hard to find, would already have had VAT paid in the UK and a private seller wouldn't be VAT registered.

All resources I've managed to find, just talk from the perspective businesses not charging VAT on such items, or handling paying the Irish VAT, with no examples covering private sellers.

Are all private seller sales going to become prohibitively expensive to export/import because VAT will apply in all cases, or is there anything in the trade agreement around second hand goods/private sellers?
