Old paper driver's licence

mods if not right place please move.]my old paper license is falling apart and is due for renewal in aug.
couple of questions please.
will they renew with paper or will it be the new card ?
and will it expire in aug or will they start afresh in jan?

My paper one fell apart about 2 years ago and I got it replaced and they gave me the plastic card one. But it only went to my normal expiry date which reminds me its nearly up, only few months left. They don't give out paper ones any more but I'm not sure if you did it now if you'd have to do it again in August or if you can renew early. Id sit tight with the tattered one until you can renew for 10 years

I don't know. Nowadays they're probably more interested in why and where you're going. Technically you're meant to have it on you at all times but not sure what enforcement is like. If you don't give guards any reason to ask for your license I doubt you'll be asked.

just an update,]had to get form signed by garda . new card license will expire in sept as the old one did.
