Young bull recovering from Pneumonia induced bloat

Folks, bought a young bull a month ago from Scotland, had him on the farm a week and he bloated up. Vet diagnosed pneumonia. Ended up getting a Red Devil inserted into rumen which thankfully got rid of the bloating. Red devil has been out for over a week now, no bloating, but his appetite hasn’t improved much (he’s getting straw and silage), I know vet wasn’t too confident in him making full recovery.. has anyone had the issue in breeding bulls and is there anything can be given to boost the thriving again? He has melted pretty badly but not as bad as you’d expect for not eating much this past month

stomach powders daily , and something like chanatol or ketol to build up his energy, as bp said some palatable calf crunch,

Not so many years ago we used to get a few bottles of stomach juice from the local abattoir/factory to dose down their necks although I think DAFM have stopped the practice ;)

On a nice day maybe let him outside for an hour to nibble some grass

Maybe good hay rather than silage ...
Is he on his own ? A bit of company may help .. ( they are herd animals after all )
