My Eir Fibre 24 month Broadband and Landline contract comes to an end next month. After contract ends, the price rises significantly from around €57 to €84 per month on a rolling contract basis. Can I just ring them to be put on the same contract or similar contract for another 12 or 24 months at the current price I'm paying or close to it? Or how does it usually work? Thanks

You'll have to ring and see what deal they will give for an existing customer, for example virgin give better deals to brand new customers (loyalty means nothing!).

If they wont give you a deal, threaten to leave, they might cave in.

Does a deal mean entering a new contract?

    Normally yes.

I have renewed with Eir for the last few years and have always found them willing to negotiate. They wouldnt give me the full discount offered to new customers, but the discount is significant and well worth the phone call. They gave me €10per month off mobile SIM-only in bundle, and a further €10per month off the rest of the bundle (Broadband, TV & phone). Total €20 per month discount in return for a 12 month commitment to new contract. Well worth the phone call, to save €240.

I don’t know about Eir but with other companies you can get another person in the house to set up a new account to get the new account discounts. Then switch back to yourself after that contract is up. We have done it with VM for years.

My contract was up in December with Eir and trying to get a new contract so far has been hard work Im probably gonna bale to Digiweb ...my bill jumped from 54 to 70+ rang looking to get my old deal back or near to it, apparently no can do but for an extra 10 euro I could upgrade to Gigabit FTTH from the extreme 150 (which I was happy with) but a 24 moth contract .....I said leave it with me a few days ....rang back said **** it why not lets do it .....oh sorry yeah cant to it ....we can do your own deal 6 months on the old price and 6 months at 76.... I said leave it with me make a note on my account please to make sure we know where we are when I ring back .....rang back a few days later again...I said look I dont want to move but im not paying the price hike what can we do here ...oh let me take a look .....whats this that last offer we cant do sir we can only offer a 3 month discount so that would be 59 for three months and 76 for the rest .. you can ring back after 3 months and get a new deal then ...I said ring back to renegotiate 3 months into a 12 months contract ....is this real ....I hung up

Digiweb or vodafone looking like they will be getting my business .

Renewed with Eir on Tuesday, 12 months contract 36.99 (or 36.98) per month 500Mb package - had old 300Mb.
    For me very good deal.

Gave it a final bash this evening armed with quotes from other suppliers ....Staying with Eir the package that couldnt be negotiated suddenly became negotiable .....we agreed a price and then I was like can you bump up the speed and they did to 500mb .......two weeks work .

Question for any technical minds ..... I ran a speed test to check via cable to router and it maxed at 92mb ....tried another computer to be sure and the same ......yet when I speed test via my phone next to the router I get the max speed .....any thoughts ? ...... Im running an Archer c7 bridged of an Eir F2000

Is your connection to pc using Cat5 cable? Just a thought? I'm sure the techno heads will be along soon...
