    Is a tyre still legal if centre ¾ of tyre is above 1.6 but the shoulder are bald

    Legal yes. Doesn't mean it's safe though.

    Tracking must be out or suspension issue,Dangerous tyres in winter will have an effect on grip in bad conditions.You might get away with it in summer dry conditions but would go on the safety side.Bald shoulder will show canvas and wire shortly if put on long finger.

    Yeah I was thinking same there legal in eyes of law . Think problem was under inflation will put new one on soon it dad car doesn't do much mileages front tyres are new just back one are that way there only 2.5m on middle anyway so more or less gone anyway.

    Unlikely to be changed before nct Saturday morning. Hopefully he won't get fail dangerous for tyres . If come to it there tyre place beside nct centre
