Injury leaving me limited

Over the last 2 weeks ive had a recurring pain in my leg that ive self diagnosed at this stage as a sprain ankle. I had recently taken up jogging at in early December and have attributed that as the only probable cause of the injury as I have no recollection of when/how it began...
Its relatively mild for most of the day with a compression sock but without it i cant put any pressure on that side. It is leaving me almost inactive and is having some negative effects on me at the moment.
I understand its only a small area and any other body part could be engaged to stay proactive but its hard to get motivated.
Has anyone here experienced a similar thing?

Self diagnosis on something that is leaving you inactive is ill advised.

You could have done anything. Pain for more than a few days after icing etc should be seen by a pro.

Have I experienced something similar? Yes, with about ten different injuries. Could be anything.
