I'm considering one of these as my next car... A 2L diesel.

It's listed as having 62mpg... Probably 150,000km on the clock. 2010/2011'ish. Budget, under 10k.

Is it likely to achieve close to that fuel economy? I'd like to add android auto, is that possible with these cars? It has a BMW sat nav, are they any use?

    Dash pic attached.

62mpg: not a hope I'm afraid. 35-45mpg more realistic dependent on a lot of factors such as engine, driving style etc
Android auto: not with the existing factory setup
SatNav: like most, your phone/google maps is far superior - even against a system with the latest maps

I get 50odd mpg in a same gen e90, same engine heavier car most I've ever gotten was 57 mixed motorway and back roads driving at the speed limit. So its not gna be a million miles off the claim.

Android auto no, but you could throw in an android head unit.

Sat nav is grand but not as useful as Google maps for traffic etc. Head unit would give you Google maps.

The Beemer seems like.a decent option... I don't want big costs at the moment, and while the Giullietta is a great car, she isn't the most fuel efficient.

There's things I'll definitely miss in the Alfa. I'm worried the BMW might not be very exciting... Already noticeable that the interior isn't nearly as engaging. I will 100% miss the Alfa's sport button...

A new head unit might be an option.

Real world fuel aconomy is pretty good to be fair to them. Comfortable place to be mine has only cost me nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Grand car to drive cabin is decently Comfortable, not the fastest car on the road but not the slowest either.
With an n47 make sure the chain has been done or walk away.

Deposit is paid... Picking it up this week.

I need the lower running cost... I'm currently getting 26mpg and this thing has the potential to do 50mpg (62 claimed), also got a two year warranty. Recently bought a house, so need my costs to stay low.

I've laways liked the look of these, from the outside at least. And performance was resonable when I tested it & I just don't need a big car.

I didn't check to see if this model came with indicators...
    Girls car? I coudn't give a ****!

They are a lovely looking car. I think they are quite well proportioned.

    Is it a 120 or 118d?
My wife had a 120d for a few years and loved it. She got about 45-50mpg mostly and more on a long run. Lovely car to drive and quicker than you would expect too. Enjoy the car.

Thanks, it's a 118... I'm not too knowledgeable about beemers, but I gather 118 is a lower hp car than the 120? Any other differences?

Yeah theres about 35 bhp in the difference. All other differences would be mechanical stuff like turbo, injectors, lack of swirl flaps etc. Nothing you'd need to concern yourself over. :)

I always liked them aswell and I'm not a massive BMW fan.
My last car (MINI) current one (RCZ) and next one (either SLK or MX5) are all thought of as girl cars, couldn't give a ****,they are class cars!
    Good luck with it.

You need to look at total cost of ownership. Mpg pretty irrelevant unless you do moderate to high mileage. Depreciation and loan interest are usually the most expensive bits of car ownership by a mile...

When I'm travelling to the office/not working from home, I'm doing minumum 60km a day... thats over €70 a week, this car will half that. The finance is negilgable, I don't believe in PCP. Tax & Insurance will be lower...

Depreciation is irrelevant. Its a cheap small car... The Alfa cost me €1,500 in depreciation over two years... Thats almost free motoring.

This car will reduce my weekly and monthly outlay... Quids In!

Many just see the cost of fuel and motor tax as the cost of ownership. I'm glad you dont and e1500 is as good as nothing depreciation wise...

Garage rang in a panic today, they have to shut shop for a while due to covid, so asked if I could pick it up immediately!!!

So I did. Took her for a nice long drive. Feels more substantial than her size. Engine is strong and more than enough for Irish roads. Interior is nicer than I thought, but still a bit bland. IDrive is crap. I've found a €200 module that will add Android Auto to the existing screen and use all of the existing controls and inputs. Hope it works out.

    https://www.android-car-dvd.de/products/wireless-apple-carplay-android-auto-mmi-interface-adapter-box-for-bmw-series-1-2-3-4-5-7-mini-x1-x3-x4-x5-x6-x7-cic-nbt-system?variant=32089463292037

The Alfa was much more aggressive feeling... Chomping at the bit... Eager... Plus it a very sporty ride was stuck to the ground mostly... The beemer, while a similar size car will be a very different prospect, more relaxed and no sport/bonkers button. Only thing I didn't like about the Giullietta is that it tends to oversteer, and I prefer understeer.

Did some mixed roads but mostly motorway... Averaged about 50mpg per the computer. I can see my average coming up short of that.

    Looking forward to this car...

Great purchase, I think these will hold their value over the very long term , almost classic already , just look at 1M values worldwide.
