have no clue either kinda worried have mine on the 13th by the looks of it the lockdown will extend, I know ye can still book theory tests for lockdown dates so im assuming the driving tests will be ok to go, they are classed as essential the last lockdown so im hoping that it stays that way, theres already a big backlog i dont think it would be the best idea to close the tests atleast. rsa said there awaiting guidance on it still on twitter

As you know the country is moving to Level 5 of the Living with COVID-19 plan from midnight on 24 December 2020 until 12 January 2021. There are some specific adjustments and the full details are available here.

We are liaising with the Department of Transport and have sought guidance in relation to RSA services including status of ADIs. We will communicate any guidance when it is received. In the meantime, services will continue as normal.

We hope this information is helpful.

    Kind regards

Until we hear otherwise everything is going ahead as it was before Christmas. That’s not to say that won’t change over the next few days.

it's very likely that the level 5 restrictions will go beyond the 13th no?

Son was getting driving lessons since April and all during lockdown as has applied for test since September. His driving instructor contacted him today to say his lesson for Thursday and future lessons are cancelled as he can only test essential workers . Just wondering why he was giving him lessons all through last level 5 or are they clamping down on driving instructors this time ..

We weren’t permitted to do lessons between mid March and 29th June so his ADI was wrong to be doing lessons during that time.

No he only started back last jan / Feb with 12 lessons then had a few more applied for test I think September and is on waiting list . He was getting a lesson every fortnight all along in town where he be doing test as wouldn’t know town that well .. But now he has been told no more lessons as only for essential workers .

The instructor is correct that lessons can only be given to people with test dates under the current level 5 restrictions (and only essential workers should do tests). This was the case during the previous level 5 restrictions also, so I'm not sure why he was getting lessons then.
