Hypothetical scenario, Gardai in a ford transit detect a driver in a Bugatti veyron speeding past them at 300+ km/h. Would they attempt to pursue?

I know there was a case sometime ago where they chased someone and they ended up crashing and dying and since then there were some changes to the policy of pursuits but I haven't found out what were the exact changes. It mentions something about different rules outside county Dublin. Anyone know more about this?

Given the 2 vehicles above i would say definitely not. Even if the Garda were using there RPU Bmw 530d they generally wouldn't pursue anything above 220ish km/hr. Obviously thats depends on the road conditions aswell.

There was a case last week where Garda caught a driver doing 192km/hr in a 120 zone. They didn't purse but they later went to the car owners house using the car registration. I've linked it below

Must have been some car to do negative 192km/h, that's 312km/h below the limit?

Police don't really do high speed pursuits anymore as the people who won't stop know they just have to drive recklessly and the pursuit has to be called off.

A friend of my family was a motorway cop in the the UK for years, back when they were kitting out Volvo 850Rs and the like.. he was asked a similar question and his answer was, "you can't outrun a radio"
