Are all 4-nut (spare) wheels the same?

Just got a Dacia and it has no spare. Just a pump and tube of gunk. There is a space in the boot for a spare, but it was an extra at time of purchase and prev owner didn't go for it.

I would feel a lot better on the road if I knew I had a spare. So I want to buy a rim (if it has a tyre, all the better). I don't care if it doesn't match the others.

My Q. Do I have to get a rim / wheel specific to my car make / model? Or will any 4 nut do? I could measure the distance between nuts / holes but noone mentions this when selling. I could measure possible purchase whenever I might buy.... Is there a standard few sizes for wheel / nut combo? Is there a website where i can look up my car and see what others car parts are compatible? ( Dacia share some Renault parts?)

    Thanks in advance

    & Happy Christmas motoring!!

I think they were only an extra €200 for a spare wheel kit wheel. It's probably safer to get one for the model you have. I assume its a Sandaro or Stepway you have? The Duster spare wheel is fitted underneath unless it's a 4wd

There are several different sizes of 4 stud wheels and they are not interchangeable.

You need to get the right one.

Get one off another Dacia. Ideally with the same tyre size as you have.

Keep in mind you’ll need to be able to secure the spare wheel down or else it’s a hazard.

They're not all the same but the same wheel should fit multiple cars e.g. a wheel from something like a Renault Scenic might fit your car. A wheel can then be gotten from a scrapyard. See this site which lists wheel type and other matching cars. This says that all Dusters are 5 stud wheels?

Yes, I have a Sandero (4 stud). My OH has a Duster, and that is 5 stud. No spare there either. Would like to get one for Duster too.

Thx for all replies & info. Much appreciated.

I will try that site. Thx.

You'll need to buy a frame to go underneath the Duster to fit a spare wheel, they are very easy to fit

Yeah it's a good reference site, once you have a match the main thing to consider then is if the wheel you are planning to fit is big enough to clear the brake calipers. For instance the Mk1 Clio and Mk1 Megane both have the same wheel spec but I think a 13 inch wheel from a Clio won't fit on certain Megane Mk1s for this reason.

I had a Logan MCV on loan recently and was pleased to see that there was a spare wheel well for an optional spare, even though the well is a decent size it didn't look quite big enough to fit a full size wheel?
