Laying OSB floor

    hello,
I am putting down a subfloor upstairs with sheets of 18mm osb. A Local Carpenter told me I can just screw every 18 inches or so and no need to glue. Is this sufficient?

The web info says to glue and screw every 6-12 inches.

    Many thanks

Depends on the type of boards and whether the edges will be supported.

If it's T&G then the boards won't meet over joists so you need to glue. Otherwise there's too much risk of movement in the joints causing the edges to be unsupported.

If you're cutting and butting large non-T&G sheets so that edges are supported by joists and noggins then just screws.

Have never glued, always predrilled/countersunk the OSB and at noggin joins just used some 3" wide by for a good bearing.
    I would screw every 8 "
