hi folks and happy and safe christmas, have a 2011 fiesta, had the front wheel off due to a puncture, noticed oil around the bottom of gear box.took it to garage, was told a seal may be gone and not to drive it long distance as could damage gear box, thing is its not leaking any oil on the ground,i would have noticed, gears are fine,no warning lights,so do i need to be worried?

Did they check the oil level in the box?
If they done that & it only looks oily I wouldn't panic short term anyway.
If its streaming oil out of the box it's a different story.

they never said anything about the oil level, but im thinking if it was leaking,id see oil on the ground, its been parked in the same spot all the time after finished driving, also would a warning come on if the oil was low?

No one has asked the colour of oil leaking is it black as in engine oil or fresh and clear gearbox oil.Is there oil on top of gearbox or only around drive shaft area.

Black might be engine oil like rear crankshaft oil seal or rocker cover gasket leaking down.Need to put your finger in it to make sure its black and same colour of oil on dipstick.
