    Hello Legal Eagles!

Over the last couple of years, but particularly over the course of the pandemic.
I've been following the work of Jo Maugham and the Good Law Project in the UK.
    https://goodlawproject.org/about/

It's a really proactive effort by a crowd-funded legal team to ensure that public interest and public good are at the forefront of legal review and action taken by them.

I know in Ireland we have the ICCL and some other organisations that have Civil Liberty and adherence to constitutional rules as part of their remit, but?
Is there any similar project in Ireland to the Good Law Project?

There aims seem to be quite laudable, social justice and equity, ensuring democracy and democratic decision making, protecting the environment.

A lot of the work they undertake really interests me.
Its something I'd like to lend some time towards if there is such a project here.

On a practical day-to-day basis, there are things like FLAC and a plethora or NGOs / quangos that do area-specific advice.

On a governmental basis there is the Law Reform Commission.

Thanks Victor, the LRC, FLAC and the other quangos all touch on aspects but are not as broad in their approach and action IMO.

The LRC present sterling work that often takes years to be often only partially implemented. Part of the joys of the legislative process I suppose.

The work the GLP are doing at the moment around the PPE contracts and laying bare the UKs old boy club is interesting.
But much of their other work around Heathrow, environmental issues and their work on Windrush and the A-Level fiasco all of public interest and great impact.

It's the broad range and immediacy of action they have that appeals to me.

One problem with the GLP is the cases they take are crowd funded, champerty and maintenance is illegal in this jurisdiction.

That's a point that (embarrassingly) never occurred to me.
