VW Golf-fault with electric handbrake and error with auto hold

Hi, my clutch went last week and sent it to get it sorted. Got it back yesterday and clutch is all good but spotted an issue straight away when I went to drive it home (the mechanic left it for me to collect as he was away). Its saying theres a fault with the electric handbrake and an error with the auto hold function. I never used to need to press any handbrake button, it was set so that I could engage and disengage the handbrake using just the pedal and brake. I'm a bit annoyed as why would he sort one issue for me only to cause another issue? He cant fix it until tomorrow now but I need the car all the time now until after xmas. Is it something I could fix myself? Or is it only fixable by going into the works of the engine?

    Probably fixed through diagnostics.
Clutch is related to the auto hold function.

It's not preventing the car from being driven, is it? As in yiu can still use the parking brake button to stop the car?

Anyway, simple thing but have you made sure auto hold is turned on? When the battery is disconnected auto hold with default to off when it's reconnected.

If not that then as above most likely related to clutch pedal switch. Wouldn't panic anyway.

Grand until the OP parks and forgets it !

I’d imagine there’s a warning coming on when the auto hold button is pressed or something.

Ah i get that but lets not act like the car is undriveable over the Christmas if they are in a pinch and it cant be sorted quickly, just going to have to remember to apply the handbrake like we've had to do since forever (until recently).

Yes the car is driveable, its just a hassle having to get the car to a very certain bite point in order for the handbrake to disengage by me pressing the park button. The handbrake seems to engage by itself when i come to a complete stop ie a junction. Not worrying about it, just an annoying inconvenience I thought maybe I could sort myself over the next few days. Thanks all for replies.

Are you able to confirm if this issue has been rectified and how? I’ve got the same issue following replacement of my clutch on a VW Golf!

I have this issue in my mams car post clutch replacement too - how did you resolve?

desperate for a solution as she won’t drive it this way - lost confidence in it and doesn’t want to get stuck on the road with this issue

    Thanks
