Hi everyone! What is the difference, engine wise between the BMW e90 320d EfficientDynamics and 320d 177/184bhp model? I know that they all use the N47D20 but do they differ in terms of injectors/turbo/software? ED comes a little short of bhp than the rest. What about trim and specs? Thanks!

The EfficentDynamics model was a 163bhp detuned version that was aimed at company car drivers in the UK. It had some aerodynamic differences too that made it have lower co2 figures, slightly better on fuel and most importantly for company car buyers, it fell into a lower BIK tax bracket. The base specs and options were the same as the regular versions.

It also had a special dual mass flywheel in the name of saving that bit more on fuel. I'd stick with a regular 320d, no difference on tax savings here and more power. The regular one was also available in the usual E90 trim levels so you can get one in the desirable M Sport trim.
