Kildare jewellers ... where to start?

Heading to Kildare later this week for my usual left it to the last minute Christmas shopping. Any suggestions for jewellers with good customer service? I know that they’ll all be flat out but it’d be great to be pointed in the right direction. Have to get a few pressies but main stumbling block is a watch for my 38 year old brother (have not seen anything I like in the local town). Any suggestions would be be appreciated.

Do you mind me asking why you're thinking of getting him a watch? It can be a difficult item to buy as a present for someone due to differences in tastes. Any idea of what style or brand of watch he would like? Or what kind of budget you have?

Thanks Cassius99 and chancer007 for replying.
Brother has been a rock for me this year and I was hoping to get him something special to acknowledge his support (my sister-in-law suggested a watch but she is tied up with the kids and can't come with me). My budget is 250 but it's flexible (can't put a value on all he has done for me). Will try the whitewater. Thanks again

    Hi,
watchers are personal choices. You don't want to get him something hes not mad about. You might like the watch but he mightn't.
I would sit down & ask him is there something he would really like to get for himself, and you give him the money for it, that's what I would prefer.
    Best of luck.

    ...... My budget is 250...........

Best value will be in Hour Passion ........ might be a slow seller or last years model but you'll get stuff for much less then the high street price.

Hour Passion have the following brands...... LONGINES, RADO, TISSOT, MIDO, HAMILTON, CALVIN KLEIN WATCHES + JEWELRY, SWATCH and FLIK FLAK

Obviously not all of them in the €250 budget.

Hold My Hand, that's a lovely gesture. I really would agree with the suggestion for a voucher, and Hour Passion have a good selection. While the voucher may not appear to be as thoughtful a gift as an actual watch, I know from personal experience that you might end up getting something which might not really be his style, or which he would never have picked himself or might not particularly like wearing.

At least this way you are letting him get something which you know he'll wear and like.

To be honest, I'd try and make a day out of it. Bring him out to the shops and pretend you're buying one for yourself? Sneak back later/land it under the tree?

If you're dead set on buying a watch for him, what's his usual daily attire? More of an outdoor type? smart/casual? Wears a suit?

Us watch-folk cower at the thoughts of somebody else choosing a watch for us: the opportunity cost of losing the rush of the chase/pre purchase research. I'm unsure it's the same for normies, the sentiment is definitely the biggest thing. I for sure really loved any watch that was gifted to me when I was younger, a Casio F91, a no-name quartz dress watch. I really thought I was the **** when I got a brown-on-brown Hugo boss square with faux-croc strap. I cherished each of them for years and wore them to their ultimate demise.

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to reply

    @Augeo & Cassius99 you’ve given me some research ideas

@david, he works outdoors but the watch would be for “good” wear. If I was pretending to be buying for myself, he’d be getting a lady’s watch 😃

Going to hit the shops tomorrow. Will let ye know how it goes. Have a good day all
