2016 Toyota Hilux fuel pump

Hello wise people of the motoring forum!

My 2016 Hilux looks like the fuel pump could be on the way out.

I took it to a local mechanic who checked it out and seemed pretty confident the fuel pump was dying. Said the fuel filter was quite clean but fuel pressure was a fair bit weaker than he would expect. He didn't find any blockages in the lines either. He advised me to take it to a Toyota dealership to be sure and I now I'm preparing myself for the worst.

Has cut out on me a few times lately
    Loses power occasionally while cruising.
failed to start a few times lately, despite the engine turning over perfectly.
Only 130k kms too nd a full Toyota service history, which is annoying.

Any idea of a ballpark price for what it might end up costing me if I do actually have to get the fuel pump replaced? I'm almost afraid to ask :(

I would more likely say its the suction control valve on the pump that is sticking and not the actual pump itself worn out . Every Hilux/Landcruiser will have it changed at some point in its life

+1 on the SCV... a known failure point on the KD series engine. I've put 2 sets in my landcruiser (in 12 years and 350,000 miles). Not big money - 300 ish for parts plus labour

Thanks a mil for the responses folks, I sincerely hope it's the SCV, and not the fuel pump.

I'll be booking it into Toyota dealership on Monday.

    Will keep ye updated!

Maybe they'll change the scv as quick as you changed accounts :)
