Do I have to return a share cert in my ex-company?

If my previous company gave me a paper share certificate (for 100 shares), am I obliged in any way to return it to them? They want it back and I've long since shredded it :p

It's nearly 18 months after I was made redundant and I took them to the WRC to get that decision. Now that they're finally paying me my back salary they're demanding this share cert back.

As I had to stop them going strike-off listed (the WRC did this for me), I shredded the worthless cert along with anything else I had from that worthless company. So I don't have the cert to give them!

Can I just ignore them? They ignored my request for payment so it seems reasonable enough!
