1: Hope you all have a great festive season and thank you for all the contributions here in 2020. :)
2: Have a project where a meter needs to be fitted to the incomer in a number of buildings that have mission critical IT systems with an autostart standby generator which will click in as soon as the power is cut to the main distribution board.
3: the meter will collect 15 minute data and the plan is to fit CTs to the three phases.

Any thoughts on how it is done?

    Thanks as always.

Are they split core CT’s ?

Unless it is the mV type it is dangerous to leave the secondary side open circuit.
    Look into this carefully.

Your average Rec won't do much with metering

A lot depends on a site survey, CTs can prob be fitted at the main board or sub boards depending on space

On your second point, if the generator comes on and the breaker to the good is open stopping power from generator going back onto the grid, will the entire distribution panel not be live.?

What I am trying to get to is if the IT folk say you cant shut it down, then we cant fit the CTs.

The two offerings are Schneider split cores and Rogowski coils.

    I'm not familiar with CTs

Says there you don't need to switch off

Whether that's true when you get to the job is another story

It looks like the split-core is specifically designed for your application( installation needs to remain energized)

If you have standby generator and Dso supply

Panels will be live unless you cut the power

This is a specialist job anyhow. The metering installers will be familiar with this work and what way to do it
