I just hate this time of year so much, I am not in the Christmas mood at all.

I decided not to decorate the house, my mother had a huge illness this year and is home now and recovering. I went to the shops yesterday and it was raining so heavy and depressing I turned around and went home. I drew out a few hundred euro and gave it as gifts in cards instead.

It is so awfully commercialised and I don't feel like going anywhere to risk catching covid. The weather is the worst I have ever seen in my life and I'm sitting here in bed doing some work in my laptop, watching netflix and trying to blot it out. I can say it has been the worst year of my life and there is nothing to cheer or celebrate, there is a long road ahead before we get some proper weather back, last year I went to the tropics and loved it, this year not possible due to covid.

I don’t give a shiny-shyte about Christmas. But I love time off work, spending time with family when they also have time off work, cooking, lounging, drinking and going overboard a little, having the ha-has and last but not least, the solstice which means the days will start getting longer again.

So I can’t wait for the the next two weeks.

I think you're looking at things the wrong way.. You have plenty to celebrate.

    Your mother is recovering
You're still able to do some work from home
You have money to buy a Netfilx subscription
    You have your health

That's a lot more than some people. Covid is a blot in time that will pass, we just need to be smart about how we each deal with it and plough through it as best we can.

Don't let things get on top of you too much and try and enjoy the little things.

Merry <insert your preferred holiday celebration here> and happy New Year.

I'm more of a Good Friday man myself. Proper misery up to a few years ago when they opened the pubs. Hopefully they will be closed this year for it, for the nostalgia like.

Not anti-Christmas but definitely prefer NYE and birthday celebrations, just as much fun without all the stress.
