A friend has an ID.3 and will will likely not be their We Charge Ionity network much. Would it be possible for a non-VW car to use a "WE CHARGE" account ?

Basically does the Ionity charger identify a specific vehicle or specific models ?

ID.3: for 3 years without a monthly basic charge, you can charge at a preferential price of currently 0.53 €/kWh with IONITY with our We Charge Go tariff.

If they have the account setup and are willing to give you their card it will work with any car. It will even work with non-CCS cars on non-Ionity networks... its just another charge card.

Great, I was wondering if Ionity had the Tesla Supercharger type ability to identify specific cars before starting charge.

At some point in the future the account info will be stored on the car and you'll just need to plug in and charge.
Hopefully that'll arrive in the next year or so, the technology is already there, car makers just need to go and implement it

For the moment however, it's all RFID or app based, so whoever has the card can plug in
