Not sure how it happened but PlayStore icon has vanished off my phone.

    Can't locate it.

Followed instructions on Google searches to reinstall it and not working.

Anyone had this happen and successfully got it back. Or know what I might be doing wrong.

Edit...checked some of the instructions online and it says to go to your Google account, settings, PlayStore version but I'm not getting this option in Settings....the OH phone is.

Are some phones now out of date for it? Mine is a Samsung S7, I admit not a new phone but surely it should still be working.

Might have to do a complete factory reset bud, hope not

    Yeah I was fearing that.

If it helps anything, the phone has been acting up recently.

Doing strange things, like WhatsApp messages not appearing as they arrive, and only filling them all in when I open the app.

Or the phone saying there is moisture at the charging port when it has been nowhere near moisture.

And a few other things....basically not behaving as normal. I feared it was on its way out.

Most of the phone still working fine so would hate to reset it all.

Are you sure it's not just missing from the app drawer? Is it in the apps list in settings -> apps?

What happens when you install a random app by going to https://play.google.com/store in a browser? Does a notification appear saying it's downloading and installing that app? What happens when you click that notification?

No, it's not showing in Settings....Apps.

Will try other option now...think I already did a few days ago.

Edit: I tried to download the Aurora app. It asked me which device I wanted, my mobile or my Android tv. Selected phone and I got an alert to say it will be installed soon. If I went back to the play store it showed as INSTALLED. I went into Settings and then Apps, but it wasn't there or any icon created.

When I go to apps and notifications, the play store doesn't show in the list.

Ok you've enough space, is google play services installed? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms

You can free up some of that space by going to google photos : settings : free up space! (It'll delete the photos already synced with google photos cloud).

    Downloaded it.
    Opened it.

Shows an Installing message, then a triangle saying app not installed.

Have you the setting ticked to allow unknown apps to be installed?

What version of Android have you?

Yeah tried it again, doing same thing.
Downloads ok....then appears to be installing ok....little progress bar appears to be moving...then I get the grey triangle saying app not installed.

And I did say it was safe to allow the download from untrusted source the 1st time.

Thanks for all your suggestions but I suspect it ain't going to work

See can you download this and install it just want to see if it works
It won't fix the problem but might start pointing us in the right direction..

Crap wrong answer, edit out that link was only for testing..

I'm kinda stumped, you not signed it any other android devices, tablet etc?

Cex are giving €107 for an S7, a new oppo A53 is €99..worth considering.

    Thanks for your time anyway.

Do any system apps appear in you app list in settings like e.g. Android System? If not, you probably have to change a setting in the app list to show system apps. There may also be a similar setting which is hiding disabled apps.

Going to call it a night for now.
Don't think going to fix it without a factory reset.

Will back everything up tomorrow and reset.

    Thanks all.
