I've got notification to say my holiday for 2021 I booked has a contract change. It states because of Brexit they are changing company names and if we don't want to transfer contract with them to ring them. Does this mean I could get a refund on my deposit.

    Thanks.

What does your contact day about refunding your deposit?

Assuming it says no refunds, a name change doesn't materially affect their performance of your contact, I would say that's a nope.

We got the same email, I'd love a refund but could it possibly be that simple? The email said to reply to them if you didn't agree with the changes in their contract to discuss options. Realistically theres not many options, we walk away with nothing or they refund our deposit or give us vouchers towards a different holiday in the new companies name.

Hubby rang and said he didn't agree with the change of contract, he was told to email with booking ref and that we would receive a refund, time will tell....

but is that refund going to be a travel voucher or an actual refund? tried searching to see what has happened with refunds from cancelled holidays but haven't found anything useful.
We have a holiday that we re-booked for next year as at the time we had to pay our final installment it was the only option other than loosing our deposit. The day after we arranged it they announced all holidays for our dates had to be refunded.

I was in the exact same position. Rebooked for June 2021 but still felt uneasy about going. They had 1000 euro deposit. I was delighted when I got the email. I rang them and then had to email with the details. I have just received a full refund this morning. I'm very happy.

Thanks to this contract change I managed to get a refund for a 700 holiday deposit that otherwise would have been lost upon cancellation. The holiday was originally booked February last year for September and then amended to April next year. No chance of that going ahead and I wasn't confident amending it to September would have worked out either. Very happy with this result.

I just rang to cancel there & should have the refund in a few days. I was expecting a long wait & a hard sell to try stop me cancelling but it was done in 5 minutes. No trying to convince me to keep it.
I do feel bad for TUI being in this situation but I'm happier about the refund.

@ Raxy, for many of us, they've had our money (deposits, full bookings, etc) for nearly a year and there is no sign of travel restrictions being any different for most of next year so it's better to get a refund if you can. Who knows what will happen next year but if / when normality resumes I will book with them again for sure.

Just as a matter of curiosity, what name is TUI changing to?

Just as a matter of curiosity, what name is TUI changing to?

And is it just TUI in Ireland? Ive 3k tied up in a postponed honeymoon booked on TUI UK that I'd dearly love to get back.

I imagine they will still be trading under the TUI name, it's a legal entity change.
In preparation for the end of the Brexit transition period on 31st December 2020, TUI Ireland Limited, a UK entity, will transfer its business operations to our existing Irish legal entity called Adehy Limited, (a sister company of TUI Ireland Limited) registered number 116977 and whose registered office is at One Spencer Dock, North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland.

Adehy Limited. A sister company of theirs. Probably will still trade as TUI but doesn't say it in the mail.
