So I gave this a shot over the weekend.
Came out OK considering how quickly it went bad!
Im going to get it painted next year anyway so had nothing to lose.
First step was to sand down the lacquer, 600,800,1000 & 1200 grit.
Well as soon I touched it with 600 grit I could see the paint getting super thin so I had to stop standing and make the most of it.
This car has seen paint before, about 9 years ago.

Heres what I was dealing with. You can see how flaky the lacquer is,it was more about damage control now than 100% reapair.

And heres how it come out.
Photos look better to be honest,I'd say its a 75% job but it really takes the edge off it and its back red instead of pink.

Definitely not one for the fainthearted but I could see how you could get perfect results on a car with thicker paint .

    That's what I was saying.
I started but the paint was coming off !
Would have been left with a white stripe.

Once it starts peeling you're pretty much screwed, only a full respray will get it back to perfect.
But if "good enough" is an option then clean and wax over it.
