Odd mileage conundrum

So I went to look at a van earlier.

2012 van. Just doed last week, good to next may.

Last doe expired 2018, reason given was business folded amd van was idle, selling now as business not restarting.

It’s low mileage for year, 60k ish

Odd thing is there were three previous old certs on window with 3k, 5k and 10k km’s between the tests. Nothing else to back up the mileage or reasons for such an odd pattern.

Bodywork is reasonable, but one damage will be a €7-800 repair as will require quarter panel respray

No service record. No access to question previous owner as it’s been sold from a garage and they won’t offer warranty nor stand over mileage.

Could be bought cheap and I don’t mind doing the bodywork.
Drives perfect, no rattles or knocks and engine is sweet, gear change smooth, no smoke at all either on startup or acceleration.

Yet, there’s a small voice in my head saying be careful.

That could be anything, maybe they had a contract a long distance away one year and were local the next?

At the end of the day you're looking at a sold as seen, no warranty, no history 8 year old van that needs bodywork, so of course you'll have to be careful.

I assume it's very small money we're talking about for it to be worth your while?

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    Asking €4300
    I’m thinking €3k

How many other similar type vans are there out there to choose from? Why consider one with so many question marks? RUN AWAY QUICK

What do you mean odd pattern? As in one year they only did 3k km and 10k 2 years later? History of DOEs is a good enough record of millage, assuming these are resent certs, but of course says nothing to how it was maintained.
If you are saying low millage is odd, many businesses buy vans, like restaurants and don't have any need for a van, but they can write for some of the expenses and it probably will come in handy a few times a year.
It's a 8/9 year old van for small money, a good check by a mechanic would put my mind at ease

Call Windsor Airside who's name tag are on the plates and ask them if they know when its due a service next - they will likely tell it hasn't been serviced since 201x at xx,xxx km's

    Looks very tidy in fairness

Other than the complete lack of any history it needs a significant enough repair to the bodywork. I spoke to a panel beater who has done work for me in the past amd he says it’s a tricky enough repair and there could be nasty surprises lurking under the cracking isopon

That is just behind the sliding door.

I’ve bid a lowball offer of €3k, won’t pay a penny more but would probably take a chance at that money.
