Would there not be a reasonable expectation that sites such as Pornhub which are so well known would have had a better verification process for vids or did they just get swamped by user uploads?

I'd reckon swamped but the main thing was/is trying to get as much cash out of the enterprise as possible. Introducing checks and balances would have required more people/moderation and that cuts into the almighty profit. They've had complaints before and released official platitudes, but losing the credit card revenue stream rattled them.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Pornhub is basically the piratebay of porn, it became as big as it is by allowing anonymous users upload vids that they did not own the rights to. Unlike the music and tv/film industries porn producers had neither the resources or backing of governments to push back against the piracy from pornhub and all it's clones.

They are only capitulating now that the card issuers have blackballed them.

Its a question I asked on different related thread...... amateur porn, who the fck regulates it? On pornhub anyone could upload videos, millions of videos of younger people. Who the hell verifies the ages?
How do you know the girl is 18 and not 15 when all you see is a face with a cock in it. They should ban all amateur porn on sites like pornhub, and the rest. If it aint commercial produced with a paper trail and with age verified performers then it should not be on there.

The one thing that worries me about this is that Mastercard and Visa have a monopoly that can decide who gets to operate their business and who doesnt. This cashless society nonsense is terrible bad news. It might be a genuine wrongdoer they're blocking today but how far will they go?

A big problem with these sites is that we all trusted them too much. Similar to Xvideos and Xhamster, we all assume all actors are over 18 and these sites were reputable with verification in some way but now it seems that may not be the case. So what happens next ? They go after millions of users who might have unknowingly viewed child abuse videos ?

    Actors?

How can anyone be an actor when it's a young guy fcking his gf's face and cumming on it. Pornhub was full of such videos.
All teenagers, that were good enough for Pornhub to assume they were 18plus, when in fact it was just kids 14-17 who looked 18

Ok sorry take back the word actors. I’m simply asking what happens next to users or viewers ? Millions of people trusted these sites and I’m sure not all were aware that some subjects were under 18. So they just remove all this stuff and move on ? Seems fairly easy for them, would they not have to held accountable for hosting such material ?

I reckon this whole episode could be an attempt by the sites to bolster the paid porn industry which has no doubt suffered with the advent of said vids of young lads fcking their gf's face and cumming on it. Perhaps they have been eagerly waiting for the day this would happen. They'd love a €x.99/mo subscription fee from their viewers that they can pump into the paid porn industry for exclusive content.

pornhub is free, it was a numbers game where they made their money through adverts.

But of course there was a premium version, if you ''wanted'' to pay. But for the most part the users were on the free site.

By definition two companies having dominance in an industry is a duopoly, but even that pedantry aside, there’s loads of other payment methods available to use online, should websites choose to support them. I work for an e-commerce company that supports over 120 of them - “credit card/debit card” is only one of them. Sites that only support Credit Card (or CC and PayPal) are making a deliberate choice to restrict themselves.

In many parts of the world, credit card is not even the post popular option. In Japan, over 17% of online transactions are paid via “Kombini”, which allows you to pay by cash (or any other payment method) in a grocery store for things you’ve bought online - including subscriptions. Then there’s direct debit methods like Klarna which are big in the Nordic countries, and Boleto which is massive in Brazil, and allows you to pay for online purchases via ATM or in a bank or post office. Hell, you could run an online business on cheques or cash if you really wanted (cash on delivery is very popular in India for physical products - bit more difficult to implement for subscriptions, but not impossible). And all this is before you even start to consider BitCoin and the other cryptocurrencies.

I’d have imagined that they be insisting that if I’m sending them in a movie with two young looking actors / performers that there would surly need to be a verification process.

    1. Skype interview with participants if not possible to have face to face.

    2. Quality scan of a passport / driving license

    3. Some situation where they can cross reference the info on scanned docs with a passport database or driving license database... if the production company cannot access there is a state body that can.

    4. A file is kept for each performer where evidence of each verification step is kept for 3 years and subject to audit by the police

    5. A single discrepancy found, they will be shut down and if any illegal act has transpired like them not being diligent enough with checks and or hiring a 16 year old performer... criminal proceedings and closed down.

As for my hard drive... music, hundreds of cds, Spotify, some old work documents , travel stuff, the odd (non porno) photos from travels and legal docs.

    That's funny.

The site had millions upon millions of clips of random people performing sex acts or having sex, all caught on a smartphone or camera, all amateur , and all uploaded by someone, not necessarily the people in the videos. I asked the question countless times'' who the hell regulates these videos'', millions of them of people who could be 14,15,16,17, ect , how is it allowed.

To say these clips were from people who just now need to verify their identity is silly. Every 12-17 year old wit a bF is recording stuff between them, then the BF shares it with a mate, and then he shares it, and like covid one case becomes 100 and suddenly 100 people had the clip, and it ended up on pornhub and it was allowed no questions asked

Just had a look at site, everything is gone that was amateur,

I can't watch porn. As soon as some bloke lobs out his big cock, yeah, that's disgusting. Seriously, who wants to watch other people having sex. It's strange.
