Problem with third function on loader

Hi all. We have a Quicke loader on tractor, about 20 years old. The third function button has caused issues over the past few years - the wire has come away from the connector just under the joystick cover.
We have had it soldered 3 times already and it has failed again.
Has anyone else had an issue with this? What did you do? Should we buy a new joystick? Is it difficult to connect a replacement joystick?

If the switch on the joystick is wired directly to the coil on the 3rd service it may help to install a relay into the circuit.

If its wired directly it draws a large current to energise the coil and can cause the contacts on the switch to heat.

A relay will help and its a cheap option

new joystick. depending on the loader model you could order the joystick and have it next day

Are you sure that the wire isn’t being pulled or the switch is moving around.

If it's the third function you may only need to replace the push button switch and re wire that part. Even a simple on/off switch will work as a temporary or even permanent solution of you get used to it.

3rd function is the only a electrical connection to front of loader to work hydraulics on grab etc. More than likely there is a relay there anyway. Usually however it can be the least best part on a joystick.

    What model quicke?

Can you check out on the valve chest/spool block? On some there are two long bolts out there with an 8mm head that can loosen.

It could be heating and melting the contact alright. The third function is wired directly to battery.

    Put a relay on it.

Those small contacts will last no length with the current draw to the coil
