National Home Retrofit Scheme

We have a contractor and got our prices for extention and renovation of old house. We are doing A2w, underfloor, external wrap, Mvhr, windows, doors etc.

We are working with a coordinaotr for the National Home Retrofit Scheme grant. He sent us a quote yesterday. It is €25000 more expensive then what the builder quoted and we only have to put in cavity beads in additional to what we are doing so surely that does not cost €25000? It will be our builder doing works as he is a subbie for them so literally we are comparing like for like? This will render grant funding void for us?

I am so green on all this (excuse the pun) please can you advise???

Not sure if I understand your question but...
What's the maximum grant available ? You may be as well off to forget the grant and build by direct labour ensuring quality of work is up to same spec. etc.

So the project manager is looking to take the grant for himself for doing a little work. I think a lot of grants in Ireland end up like this.

If that's the case you should complain to the seai with your figures, although I'm not sure how that scheme works, particularly when your doing an extension at the same time.

    Op
    1. what did the builder price? Ie tender package.
    2. who prepared the drawings and spec that the builder priced?
    3. Who sat with the builder to ensure there were no omissions from the tender package?

    3. So engineer hasn’t sat with builder or management company to discuss the costs.

    4. what’s the total cost of works from builder?
    5. Total cost management company?
    6. You say the engineer is managing the project? In my experience id be sceptical about this. And engineer typically designs, inspects and signs off a project, but are they managing the build?
Why not Come back To us when All parties have sat down and discussed the perceived Cost delta.

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but is the retrofit scheme going ahead? Anyone i have rang including Dublin City Council said the funding was not granted and at present there basically is no retrofit grant.

I enquired with 3 of the largest 'one stop shops' listed on the seai site for the scheme over Christmas. None have responded so I don't hold much hope.

I’m really glad I found this thread.

We’re also looking to join the scheme in Dublin. From the two responses I’ve had it seems that we can’t have our very small extension and other renovation work carried out at the same time as the work covered by the scheme so I’m interested to see that the OP says extension and renovation and managed to get a quote.

Seems bonkers to me not to be covered by this scheme if we want other work done at the same time.

I’ve contacted the SEAI for clarification.
