Just noticed this this morning when I went to top up a phone - I can't access eir.ie unless I go through a proxy. Anyone else seeing the same thing? I guess it's unlikely to be shenanigans behind it, but the mind does wonder!

    Same, resolves but inaccessible.

Traces enter the eir network but no response.

Ah cool thanks for confirming! So it's not just me then. I see VM have closed down their boards forum so I guess my best bet is to make a twitter and bug them about it there :D

I have no problem accessing eir's site on VM.

What DNS servers are you using? I use Google's ones

    I got curious (/bored :D) and tried a tracert there :
    Tracing route to eir.ie [86.43.151.7]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

      1 3 ms 2 ms 4 ms 192.168.0.1
      2 14 ms 13 ms 13 ms 84.116.236.62
      3 12 ms 22 ms 11 ms ie-dub01a-rc1-ae-14-0.aorta.net [84.116.239.129]
      4 13 ms 17 ms 23 ms ie-dub01a-ri1-ae-63-0.aorta.net [84.116.134.174]
      5 17 ms 14 ms 16 ms lag-40.br1.csg.border.eircom.net [194.88.240.14]
      6 19 ms 17 ms 18 ms eth-trunk20.hcore1.bdt.core.eircom.net [86.43.10.162]
      7 * * * Request timed out.

so it does look to be some random problem with a specific backend I keep getting routed to. I tried a few different DNS as well but I always get routed to that same busted 86.43.10.162

My trece route times out after the next hop 86.43..242.22 but the website is still accessible - its possible that the internal servers/firewalls are blocking ICMP responses
