Hard Disk Failure!!!

    Ok so there i was working away on my laptop and then get the dreaded blue screen!
    i rebooted and teh bios could no detect the hard disk. the laptop is til under warranty but i really need to salvage the data on it.
    any ideas please?

    go into the bos and reset factory settings I guess.
    Is there any noise (clicking) from the drive. If so your screwed. You might want to see if the all the hard drive cables are still in place but if ur under warranty u might want to avoid taking the thing apart.
    Try also getting the latest update for your bios.

    if its not seen by the bios you are pretty much out of luck, unless you are willing to pay 100's to have data recovery specialists take it asunder in a clean room, if you are willing then www.ontrack.com, used em before, they are pretty good

    I have had it happen to my pc a few times that one day the pc wont recognise a drive and the next day it will. How long had this been going on for

    You could also try to reseat the HDD as sometimes on laptops they get a bit of knock and move in their casing.

    was thinking of taking drive out and putting it in as a slave in my pc or using a ide to usb converter?

    reset factory setting and still nothing. going flashing the bios in a min.

    no rattling coming from it i think. it only happened ther on saturday.
